Drawn By My First Love
Have you ever noticed how casually and commonly the word “love” is frequently used within our culture? We often attribute it to insignificant things that have no true value or merit. In 1 John 4:10 (ESV), the Bible says: “ In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” How amazing is that! Before we ever knew there was a God who loved us, before we ever recognized how desperately we would need to be saved from our sins, God demonstrated his redeeming love to us first.
I don’t know about you, but for me it is sometimes difficult to wrap my finite brain around the fact that the maker of the universe initiated his love to me…he loved me first…he is my first love…but have I made him my first love by giving him first place in my heart? Is he your first love?

Worship could be compared to a never ending cycle of responding to the love of God. John 4:16 (ESV) says, “So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” Even when we are worshiping our Father, make no mistake, it is because HE has drawn us to himself. Our recognition of that love compels us to want to respond with expressions of love, worship and adoration toward him, because of our awareness for his overwhelming
love for us. Today I challenge you to lose yourself in worship by loving on the Father. As he draws us by his love to be in his presence, may we proclaim with a lifestyle of worship how much we love him back. May he be our best love, our greatest love, our first love!
