Rich Rewards of Worship

The beauty of God’s holiness leaves us in awe every time we encounter Him in worship. We have the high privilege of coming into his presence. Being with God is the richest reward we can receive whenever we experience Him in our worship. With pure motives, we seek the presence of God because we love Him. It is never because of what He

can do for us, but it is always motivated by our understanding that being with Him is our most valuable treasure.

Since we are the Children of God, we have the distinction of being given certain benefits as a result of our connection to God in worship. I like to call these benefits the rich rewards of worship. There’s nothing we can offer God in exchange for these rewards, yet, He chooses to bestow these blessings upon us. We have a wonderful Father who loves us so much, that every time we worship, He allows us to be the recipients of His rich rewards. These rewards are actually by-products of our worship offerings. Although this list is not exhaustive, it is a starting point for you to consider other rewards God personally bestows on you whenever you worship.

Reward # 1 ~ Healing

When we worship, God rewards us with healing.

Exodus 23:25

Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you

Reward # 2 ~ Protection

When we worship, God rewards us with protection.

Psalm 5:11

But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

Reward # 3 ~ Deliverance

When we worship, God rewards us with deliverance.

2 Chronicles 20:17-18

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.” Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD.

Reward # 4 ~ Strength

When we worship, God rewards us with strength.

1 Chronicles 16:27

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling place.

Reward # 5 ~ Restoration

When we worship, God rewards us with restoration.

Job 33:26

Then that person can pray to God and find favor with him, they will see God's face and shout for joy; he will restore them to full well-being.

Reward # 6 ~ Peace

When we worship, God rewards us with peace.

Haggai 2:9

‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the LORD Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the LORD Almighty.”

Reward # 7 ~ Joy

When we worship, God rewards us with joy.

Psalm 21:6

Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

Reward # 8 ~ Favor

When we worship, God rewards us with favor.

Genesis 4:4

And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,

It is my hope that in being aware of these rewards, we are even more compelled to worship God because of his love and generosity toward us. These rewards are not anything we can manufacture for ourselves, but they are bestowed upon us by our loving Father. When we consider these rich rewards of worship, we should become even more grateful for all of the ways He demonstrates His love to us, and even more determined to demonstrate our love back to Him as we worship Him all the more. This spawns our never-ending cycle of worship with our Father. Of course, if there were no rewards, we would still love God, because He is always most worthy of our worship.
