Desiring Glory

What exactly is the Glory of God? Glory can be explained in a many ways because it has different manifestations. Simply put, it is the description often attributed to encountering the presence of God. When we experience glory, we are experiencing what it means to be in the presence of God. It is a place of fellowship and communion, and it is powerfully experienced when we choose to worship God. Worship is our response to God’s holiness. His holiness is revealed in His glory.

In the Old Testament, Moses experienced the glory of God. Exodus 33:18 (NKJV) records only eight words, but they are profound: “And he said, ‘Please, show me Your glory.’” This scripture verse grabs my soul every time I read it. Moses found favor with God. He was a friend of God. Their relationship was intimate. Even still, Moses did something amazing: he asked. He asked God to show him His glory.

As I stated last month in the video blog, 2018 is the year of Pursuing Greater Glory (see this YouTube link to view the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQ9wu5jqHIk ). The word “pursuing” is a strong, active, and intentional adjective. In order to pursue GREATER GLORY we must first DESIRE the Glory of God. Everything starts with our desire. We will never go after anything we do not truly desire.

We can learn a wise lesson from Moses. If we want to experience God’s glory, we should ask. It is imperative that our desire for God’s glory drives us to seek him. Worship is where we encounter our glorious God and receive His glory when we present Him our desire. Yes, this is the year of pursuit. Oh, to live in His glory. Oh, to be in the presence of God.

So what’s in your heart? What do YOU really desire? The psalmist declared in Psalm 27:4, “One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD al l the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.” What is your one thing? I hope your answer is glory. I pray that you will release your worship to God as you pursue the desire of your heart…His glory.
