Worship and Entrepreneurship
The Bible states, Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. (Psalm 127:1)
This scripture is vital for all entrepreneurs!
Why? I’m glad you asked. To begin, the term build here means to establish or set up.
Anything we build, establish or set up contains a foundation. We must place God at the foundation of our businesses. Not only should he be at the foundation, he should also remain at the center of all our decision making.
What are you worshiping? Who or what is at the center of your business?
I started my business back in 2016. As I pondered on its name, God nudged me. You see, I had named my business something that sounded good to me. However, God sent me into prayer and gave me instructions about the business and its name. This was also my reminder that he must remain the center for success and growth.
Almost three years later, God continues to be the center, and my writing business is soaring to new heights. This couldn’t be without my obedience.
God is always speaking, even in what we believe are small things. Are you listening to His instructions? Are you worshiping Him in your business matters or are you worshiping the desire of becoming rich? These are some hard questions that we must answer honestly.

There are many in the business world building their own “houses.” They are also gaining wealth but no joy and peace. These things only come as we walk in relationship and obedience to the living, eternal one, Christ our Lord.
Remember, it’s is his purpose. The talents come from Him.
Are there some things you need to adjust to make God the center focus?
God doesn’t desire us to guard or labor for our businesses in vain, but that is exactly what is taking place when we don’t consult Him, put Him first.
Let us keep our focus on Jesus! Success will chase us down as we obey and live to worship the LORD, even in our business matters.
