El Emunah, The Faithful God


Deuteronomy 7:9 (NIV)

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God (El Emunah), keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”



There has never been a time in my life God has not been faithful to me. Never. There have been plenty of times I have not been faithful to God. Yet, He has never rejected me, and never withheld His love from me. Why? Because it is absolutely impossible for God to lie, go against His word, or deny who His names reveal He is. This is the sentiment of what is expressed to Israel in Deuteronomy 7:9 as God reveals His name, El Emunah. He wants them to know He is a covenant-keeping God. Our God is faithful.


Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV) speaks to the faithfulness of God: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” It is a bit mind-blowing and mind-boggling to wrap our brains around such greatness when we often struggle in our humanity to be faithful…to God, to ourselves, to others. What does it mean to be faithful? It means to be loyal; steadfast in affection or allegiance; firm in devotion (merriam-webster.com). In a culture where these attributes are not always valued, promoted, and scarcely found among the masses, I take great comfort in knowing God is dependable in His promise to remain faithful.


In Psalm 57:10 (NIV) we are reminded, “For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.” If God’s faithfulness reaches to the skies, we can be encouraged that His faithfulness can find us - no matter where we may find ourselves. His faithfulness never grows weary, gives up on us, or comes to an end.


GOD IS FAITHFUL!


God is faithful to love.

God is faithful to restore.

God is faithful to forgive.

God is faithful to heal.

God is faithful to deliver.

God is faithful to provide.

God is faithful to answer.

God is faithful to move.


Even in the midst of our messy moments, our imperfect personalities, and our complicated circumstances - God continues to prove Himself faithful to you and me. If you find yourself in a posture of waiting today, I want to challenge you to remember the past faithfulness of God. I am confident that like me, you too will not be able to ever recall a time in your life when God was not faithful. Trust that if He has always been faithful to you, God will once again show His faithfulness because of His great love for you.




Prayer of A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) to El Emunah, The Faithful God


Adoration: Father, I praise and adore you for being El Emunah, The Faithful God. You are holy and honorable, and I worship you for your faithfulness.


Confession: El Emunah, I confess I have not always been faithful to you or appreciated the fullness of your faithfulness to me. Forgive me for my disobedience, slothfulness, and apathy when I have rejected your faithfulness and failed to respond in faithfulness to you. Lord, I want to be found faithful in your sight. Please give me an undivided heart to show loyalty in my affection, attention, and allegiance to you.


Thanksgiving: Thank you God for all of the ways you remind me of your faithfulness. Thank you for the blessings that accompany your faithfulness. Thank you for your past, present, and future faithfulness in my life. Thank you that your presence with me daily is a constant reminder of your faithfulness. Thank you El Emunah for being the Faithful God.


Supplication: Dear Lord, I pray you would give me a deeper desire to receive you as my faithful God and reciprocate faithfulness back to you. Remove any hindrance and distraction that prevents me from responding to your faithfulness with faithfulness unto you. I want to be more faithful to you God because you are The Faithful God. I declare this is my portion, in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
